New SsangYong Rexton has already won the hearts of many English drivers thanks to its brand-new styling, premium quality and big towing capacity. News has come in from 4×4 Magazine where they recently heralded the Rexton as their 4×4 of the Year 2018 whilst also receiving the “Best Value” and “Best Overall off-roader” awards.
Over ninety vehicles were accessed in these awards over seven categories and with the Rexton coming out on top over Mercedes, Land Rover, Volkswagen, Vauxhall and Skoda (to name just a few), it just shows how difficult the competition was this year.
The New Rexton brings a new level of premium to tough off-roading. Whilst the clever four-wheel drive system won’t let you down in the harshest terrain, it’s good to know you could be enjoying the comfort of the sumptuous interior. In fact, the new Rexton is one of the few vehicles in the category to bring features such as heated seats for both the front and second row passengers.
Commenting on the success of the Rexton’s win, Alan Kidd (editor of 4×4 Magazine) claimed:
“We were genuinely surprised at how good the Rexton is. The combination of kit, styling, practicality and build quality is nothing short of remarkable; it would be impressive at twice even three times the price”.
“The Rexton won the Off-Roaders class despite strong competition from rivals as diverse as the Jeep Wrangler JK and Toyota Land Cruiser, and was the best all-rounder”.
“Competition for the overall title this year was fiercer than ever, with strong contention from the Land Rover Discovery, Vauxhall Insignia Country Tourer and Skoda Kodiaq. It speaks volumes for how well the Rexton did to beat them, and is clearly something very special indeed.”
“SsangYong doesn’t just sell on price any more. There’s a confidence about its products which bodes well for the future. The Rexton is the most profound example of this we’re yet to see.”
New Managing Director of SsangYong UK was a very proud man: “For an all-new car launched just four months ago to do so well against such established and strong competition, is a truly impressive result. SsangYong likes to think of the brand as ‘Korea’s Land Rover’, and now with complete justification! It’s great to see a strong product also getting great recognition”.
SsangYong Rexton is powered by a 2.2 litre engine and can carry up to seven passengers in comfort, whilst towing up to 3.5 tonnes. It truly is the go-anywhere, do anything vehicle. With rumours circulating that SsangYong in talks with the Italian design house Pininfarina for their next generation of vehicles, the future for SsangYong looks very good indeed.
