With the launch of the New SsangYong Korando SUV recently, it’s important to look at how this exciting new model has been receive by the British public, the important driver-safety bodies and motoring journalist. Is it really as good as we have claimed?
In this article we will briefly highlight several reviews and opinions from around the UK and whilst we cannot cover each of their comments, critiques and compliments, each opinion is linked, so you can visit their full reviews in detail.
EURONCAP is responsible for stringent testing in the automotive industry and crashes cars deliberately and scientifically all day and every day. Their one-to-five star rating offers an easy to understand score of how they evaluated the safety of each car model.
With the introduction of driver-safety systems, getting a five-star score is becoming more and more difficult with manufacturers.
With this in mind, the New Korando SUV was awarded an enviable FIVE-STAR rating for safety! It is rated one of the safest vehicles in 2019 on the planet. A brief example of their thorough testing process is detailed below and whilst the thought of the worst happening is a concern for us all, knowing that we are in one of the safest cars on sale in the UK today is something that can give us all peace of mind.
The Sunday Times Driving section is one of the most respected in the country with iconic journalists offering their honest and unabashed opinion. The New Korando SUV was reviewed by Will Dron and his initial comments on the new model say it all…
“Oh, come on, SsangYong: who’re we going to look down on now?”…..”Rivals should be worried”
Will Dron – The Sunday Times
Mr Dron noted how the standard features on the New Korando surpassed all of its competitors for the price and the design was an incredible leap forward – one that is worth the attention from prospective buyers.
His four-star review applauded the comfort, interior, practicality and costs and included comments on the impressive technology included, five star safety rating and overall costs.
The New Korando SUV was awarded a four-star review from The Telegraph’s Ed Wiseman who noted how exceptional the Rexton now performs.
Known for his acerbic tone and straight-to-the-point manner, Ed noted that the striking new design is a decisive and aggressive in equal measure. He highlighted the “van like” folded boot-space of up to 1,248-litres and endless storage pockets around the cabin.
“It has enough ground clearance to be useful in challenging terrain, and the four-wheel-drive system can hold its own against pretty much all of its rivals. The Evoque is steadier in worse terrain, but without stepping up a segment and buying a ‘proper’ 4×4, or down to a Suzuki Jimny, you’re unlikely to find significantly better off-road performance elsewhere.”
Ed Wiseman – The Telegraph
Finishing his report, he even noted how he (after spending hundreds of miles driving it), was sad to drop it back. It was (in his words) “exceptionally easy to recommend“.
